Disapointed ? This browser dates back from 1997 and has not been maintained for 3 years now. As technologies evolve, it is obvious that in the future more and more sites will not be NN4x-compliant.

If you know a bit of HTML, you may know that there is a difference between NN4x and the standard with the handling of floating layers. NN4x will want a <LAYER> tag where the standard will want a <DIV> tag. Well, that would not have been a burden to have a PHP workaround for this. The main problem is elsewhere.

The standard for adressing hierarchical element in a DOM structure has been standardized. 30% of this standard has been implemented in IE, nearly 100% in Mozilla 1+ and Netscape Navigator 7+. None has never been in NN4x, as the DOM specification did not exist when it was still maintained, or if it was, its developpers did not implement any feature of it.

So, you should update to a new version of Netscape Navigator. If you are upset about your bookmarks, be sure they will be recovered and usable by a new version. Just go to the Netscape web site, and read the docs about it.

If you have an old computer, you can use K-meleon. Never heard of it ? It is the lightest gecko-based browser. Geckon is the HTML redering engine of the new Mozilla and Netscape browsers. Search it on Google. Beware : there is no mail client with it. But you can use any mail client like Eudora. There again, you will recover your bookmarks.

Trying to browse the web with NN4x is a bit like to travel with a horse carriage. You will not go that far, that fast. Yous will not be that comfortable. You will not be allowed to drive on the motorways. Some will like it, but for leisure.

Essayer de naviger avec un NN4x, c'est un peu comme voyager en voiture à cheval. On ne va pas aussi loin, pas aussi vite. Ce n'est pas aussi confortable. On n'a pas le droit d'entrer sur les autoroutes. Certains aiment ça, pour leur loisirs.
